Q.1 Clean India Mission must have been run in your school also. You contributed in what type of works, Make a list.

Ans. Yes, Clean India Mission has been run in your school also. We contributed in following type of works:

(i) We cleaned few streets around our school.

(ii) We tried to spread awareness about cleanliness around our school.

(iii) In our school, we made sure that all types of wastes are dumped in dustbin.

(iv) In our school, we encouraged each other to collect separate waste as wet and dry.

Q.2 What did you experience by participating in this mission?

Ans. By participating in this mission, we experienced that If we start working collectively as a team work, we can do huge tasks easily.  We also felt that cleanliness makes our surroundings beautiful. And it reduces the causes of spreading various diseases.

Q.3 After working under “Clean India Mission”, what changes have you made in your habits?

Ans. After working under “Clean India Mission”, We have made following changes:

(i) We don’t throw garbage here and there.

(ii) We collect dry and wet garbage separately.

(iii) In public places, If we see garbage fallen on a road we put it in the available dustbin there.

(iv) We clean our toilets by ourselves.

(v) We keep our streets, colonies and roads clean.

Ans. Yes. Making cleanliness at roads, streets, colonies etc. is also our responsibility.

Q.2 What is the reason for accumulation of dirt and trash in the colonies and streets?

Ans. The reasons for accumulation of dirt and trash in the colonies and streets are movement of vehicles and throwing garbage by people in them.

Q.3 What efforts can we make to maintain cleanliness in our colonies, roads etc.?

Ans. The following efforts we can make to maintain cleanliness in our colonies, roads etc.

(i) We should not throw garbage in them.

(ii) Encourage people to throw garbage in the available dustbin there.

(iii) We should spread awareness in our localities about cleanliness.

(iv) People should be rewarded at colony levels who maintain cleanliness in colonies.

Q.4 Who does the cleaning work in our locality?

Ans. Cleaning workers of Municipality do cleaning work in our locality.

Q.5 What do they do with the waste collected by them and where do they take it?

Ans. They separate dry and wet waste from the waste collected by them and then they deliver the unusable waste into open landfill site for dumping it.

Q.6 What difficulties they have to face during this work?

Ans. They face two main following difficulties during this work.

(i) For collecting fallen waste around the dustbins.

(ii) For separating wet and dry waste from the collected waste by them.

Q.7 If the trash lying around your school or home is not cleaned continuously for one week, then what will happen?

Ans. If the trash lying around our school or home is not cleaned continuously for one week, then heaps of debris will be there everywhere. Therefore many street animals, mosquitoes and flies etc. will be seen around there.

Q.8 Make a list of those items from the trash generated your house, which can be reused?

Ans. The items which can be reused from the generated trash in our house are all plastic waste, paper, clothes, bags etc.

Q.9 With the help of similar such items like, paper, cardboard, bags etc. try to make some useful things.

Ans. Do it by yourself. You can make following things:

(i) A dustbin from the empty cardboard boxes used for packing.

(ii) Dusters, ropes, mats from old clothes.

(iii) Decorative articles from the wrappers of chocolates etc.

Q.1 Ganga’s bhabhi says that – when we follow purdah system inside and outside our homes then, how can we go for defecation in the open? In your opinion, what is the relevance of this statement?

Ans. Defecation in the open is absolutely opposite practice to the purdah system. And when purdah system is practiced inside and outside of our homes then open defecation should be stopped suddenly and at least a toilet should be constructed in every home. And so public toilets should be constructed at every public place which should be cleaned time to time as well.

Q.2 What will be the adverse effects of open defecation?

Ans. The adverse effects of open defection will be following:

(i) Bad smell will be there in our surrounding.

(ii) People will be getting ill regularly due to our dirty surrounding.

(iii) Unpleasant appearance will be seen everywhere.

(iv) Many street animals such as pigs, dogs etc. will be roaming over there.

Q.3 Are there any people in your locality, who go for open defecation in the open? What advice would you give them?

Ans. Yes, There are some people in our locality who go for open defecation in the open. And the following advice we would like to give them.

(i) It is unhygienic for the one itself.

(ii) It produces many diseases causing bacteria.

(iii) Bad smell will be there too.

(iv) Unpleasant appearance for the people who will be moving along the place.

Q.1 Those who do not have their own houses and they live in tents or sheds, What arrangement of toilets should be there for them?

Ans. Public toilets should be constructed for them by governments.

Q.2 Why it is necessary to wash our hands with soap, after going for defecation?

Ans. Because so many bacteria are there on our hands that is why it is necessary to wash our hands with soap after defecation.

 

Q.3 Which equipment, The cleaner is holding in fig. 4.3?

Ans. The cleaner is holding modern mop.

Q.4 What will be the effect on cleanliness, if proper cleaning equipment are not available?

Ans. The effects on cleanliness will be following if proper cleaning equipments are not available:
(i) Time taken will be more.
(ii) Proper cleanliness will not be there too.
(iii) Diseases causing bacteria could be available there.
(iv) Unpleasant smell could be there too.

Ans. Yes, Cleanliness must be a part of our habit.

Q.2 How should we behave with the persons doing cleaning work?

Ans. We should behave well with the persons doing cleaning work.

Q.3 What type of image will our country have, if our villages/ cities are not cleaned?

Ans. Our country will have dirty type of image, if our village/city are not clean.

Q.4 If our houses are not clean, how will it affect our lives?

Ans. If our houses are not clean. It will affect our lives in our following ways.
(i) People will be getting I'll regularly.
(ii) People will not be feeling well due to unpleasant smell and appearance.
(iii) People will not be doing their work properly.

Q.1 How did you organize the cleanliness campaign in your school? Describe it.

Ans. We organized the cleanliness campaign in our school doing following works:
(i) Stop throwing papers, pencil shavings, wrappers of toffees in and out of the classroom.
(ii) Stop writing on walls, furniture.
(iii) Not spitting and not spreading litter anywhere.
(iv) Taking bath daily and wearing tidy clothes.
(v) Saying no to use of plastics.
(vi) Spreading awareness for the same in our surroundings.

Ans. “Cleanliness must become our habit”. We should do following efforts for the same.

 (i) Stop throwing papers, pencil shavings, wrappers of toffees in and out of the classroom.

(iv) Take bath daily and wear tidy clothes.

Q.3 When someone went to Gandhiji’s Asharam, What did he do to create awareness about cleanliness?

Ans. When someone went to Gandhiji's Asharam. He used to give a work to everyone that is “cleaning toilet” as it is a part of our daily work creating awareness about cleanliness.

Q.4 Write your opinion on the “Clean India Mission”.

Ans. “Clean India Mission” is a campaign started by the Government of India on a national level. The main aim of this mission is to clean the roads, streets and public places of our country. This was launched on 2nd October 2014 (Gandhi Jayanti).
