Q.1 What are the problems which Santu must have faced in the village after migration?

Ans. The problems which Santu must have faced in the village after migration are following:

(i) He had to live on rant.

(ii) He was not feeling well over there as he was missing his own village.

(iii) He had to search for some occupation.

Q.2 If there is any family in your vicinity which migrated to some other place or settled in your area after migration from some other place, then collect the following information about it-

(a) The family migrated to/from which place?

Ans. The family migrated from West Bengal.

(b) What are the reasons for their mitigation?

Ans. The reason for their mitigation are getting better education for their children and getting better opportunities for doing work.

(c) How many members are there in their family?

Ans. 5 members are there in their family.

(d) Who helped them?

Ans. Their neighbors and some social workers helped them to settle down.

Q.1 Is there any person in your family or in your vicinity who went out of their town or shifted in your area from some other place for their studies?

Ans. Yes. My elder brother's friend went out of his town for his studies.

Q.2 If you have to shift to some other place for studies, then what things will you take along with you?

Ans. If we have to shift to some other place for studies then will take following things with us:
Books, clothes, a quilt, a bad, some necessary grocery items etc.

Q.3 If there are some students of your school living in a hostel for their studies, then gather information about them like what types of work they have to do on their own?

Ans. Following types of work they have to do on their own.
(i) They wash and iron their clothes by themselves.
(ii) They cook their food too.

Q.4 What are the reasons due to which people migrate?

Ans. Due to following reasons people migrate:
(i) Finding occupation.
(ii) Getting better education for their children.
(iii) In the search of better opportunities.
(iv) Getting better living standards
(v) Getting protection from natural disasters like earthquake, flood, land slides etc.

Q.5 How do their children complete their studies?

Ans. Their children complete their studies easily in city as compare to village.

Q.6 What facilities/ arrangement people have to make, when they want to settle down at some new place?

Ans. Following facilities people have to make when they went to settle down at some new place.
(i) Finding room for accommodation on rent.
(ii) Finding job.
(iii) Adjusting in new environment.
(iv) Finding schools for their children according to their economic conditions.

Q.1 Who are the people in your vicinity, living in the same place for more than 10 years?

Ans. Many families in our colony are living in the same place for more than 10 years.

Q.2 What is the difference between their homes and the homes of the families who change their place continuously?

Ans. The difference between their homes and the homes of the families who change their place continuously is that the people who change their home continuously live in smaller house and people who live there struggle for getting even necessary things.

Q.3 During rainy season, which families in your surroundings, leave their home and live in their fields for agriculture?

Ans. During rainy season, The people who have got some agricultural land in their village leave their homes and live in their fields for agriculture.

Q.4 During that time how do their children go to school from there?

Ans. Children go to their school with someone elder in their home.

Q.5 Who brings for them the things required for their daily use?

Ans. Ladies and elders of their family bring the things of daily use.

Q.1 Due to construction of the dam, the people living in that area had to leave their homes. Why?

Ans. Due to the construction of the dam, the people living in that area had to leave their homes cause the area had been water logged.

Q.2 Why are the dams constructed?

Ans. Dams are constructed due to following reasons:
(i) For the storage of water.
(ii) Regulation of stored water.
(iii) Generating electricity.

(iv) Controlling flood.

Q.3 If you are given a responsibility to rehabilitate people in a new place, which facilities will you provide to them?

Ans. If we are given a responsibility to rehabilitate people in a new place. Following facilities we will provide them.
(i) Shelters, (ii) Clothes,  (iii) Food items, (iv) Hospitals, (v) Schools and  (vi) shops for other necessary things.

Q.4 Are there any people in your village/ city, who live in shelters like tents or sheds or make their vehicles/carts as their homes?

Ans. Yes, there are many who live in shelters like tents or sheds or make their vehicles or carts as their homes.

Q.5 How many such people are there?

Ans. Less number of such people are there in our surroundings.

Q.6 What type of work do they do?

Ans. They make utensils and tools of iron.

Q.1 Where do their children study?

Ans. Most of their children don't go to any school.

Q.2 What are the reasons for the displacement of these people?

Ans. The reasons for the displacement of these people are following:
(i) Due to any Natural disasters like flood, drought etc.
(ii) Due to work of development in that area like construction of dams etc.
(iii) Due to illiteracy and unemployment etc.

Q.3 According to this chapter, what are the reasons due to which people leave their homes?

Ans. According to this chapter, People leave their homes due to following reasons.
(i) For getting proper jobs and education migrate to cities
(ii) Due to natural disaster like drought
(iii) Area comes in low-lying area due to construction of dams

Q.4  Apart from the reasons mentioned in this chapter, what are the other possible reasons due to which people migrate to settle at other places?

Ans. Apart from these reasons mentioned in this chapter, the other possible reasons due to which people migrate to settle at other places are following:
(i) Due to marriage purpose
(ii) Clash based on castes or religions
(iii) For better living standards
(iv) For flood situations
(v) Better health facilities
(vi) Protection from landslides
(vii) Transfer of jobs.

Q.5 When people settle down at a new place, what problems they have to face during the process?

Ans.  When people settle down at a new place, they have to face the following problems.
(i) Arrangement of house and education of their children, food and drinking water facilities.
(ii) Adjusting in the new place.
(iii) People have to live without their relatives.
(iv) Sometimes, people struggle for even necessary things.
